
Matthew Breen, PhD CBiol FRSB
Dr. Matthew Breen is a Professor of Genomics and the Oscar J. Fletcher Distinguished Professor of Comparative Oncology Genetics in the Dept. of Molecular Biomedical Sciences at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Breen has over 30 years experience in human and animal health research and is recognized internationally as a pioneer for his work in the space. He has authored almost 200 scientific publications and is regularly invited to be a leading speaker and national and international scientific conferences. His work has been featured in the mainstream media and as part of TV documentaries. Dr. Breen is the recipient of numerous research and leadership awards, notably the NCSU Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Chancellor’s Innovation Fund, and nomination to the Research Leadership Academy. Dr. Breen has served on advisory boards for several companies in the animal health industry, as well as for scientific journals, and federal and private funding agencies.
As Founder and President of Sentinel Biomedical, Dr. Breen also oversees a dedicated team developing robust molecular tests for early detection, diagnosis, and prognosis of animal cancers.
